چکیده
Ethiopia is branded as the Water Tower of Africa because its abundant inland water bodies that may be used sustainably to boost economy. This review article’s goal examine current status and future potential Ethiopia’s fisheries, with a special focus on reservoirs. There are 200 known fish species (194 native, 40 endemic, 11 exotic) in water. production has increased by factor more than five past three decades (3,500 tons 1983 15,681 2000 18,058 2010). However, produced reservoirs too low (8,059 t/year). The harvests from significantly below predicted yield, accounting for only 35% calculated capacity. In this review, 14 reserves were revealed. A total 48 have been reported these, which 26 (or around 54%) present Alwero reservoir. 19 officially recognized belong Cyprinidae family made up nearly 40% population Ethiopian been, however, decline productivity reservoir fish. Hence, actively start fishing numerous neglected yet, link fisheries benefits farming supply chain, let’s begin building several other similar Grand Renaissance Dam beginning mechanized-based harvesting.
